The word “Rua” in Hebrew means “to raise a shout.” It’s also an acronym for the words “Read / Understand / Act.” This study aims to gather women together to read the Bible, study toward real understanding, then act out of that understanding. As we do so, we hope a loud shout – a Rua – of awe, joy, and gratitude rises up from the hearts of those who behold God in his word.
The RUA study is designed to be flexible and approachable for all, from Bible scholar to skeptic. It will provide an opportunity to “deep dive” if you have time and desire. But it will also allow you to gather around the Bible with others, even if you have done little-to-no preparation. It gives you a chance to speak the words of the Bible to others, or hear the words of the Bible, or both. You’re welcome at RUA whatever place you’re in.
In RUA, you will have a weekly assignment. With the exception of the Intro Week, each week you’ll answer the same eight questions. You are encouraged to answer the questions based upon your own reading and understanding of the Bible passage(s), rather than drawing upon commentaries or study tools. The questions were written with an eye toward your group meeting, where you can continue learning together in community.
Each week, we'll "open the doors" at 7pm and have a brief cushion of time for getting water, getting settled, and chatting. Then we'll get down to business.
This season, we’re diving into Habakkuk.
